We look for dogs that are SOCIAL,
have had some obedience training,
but are not perfect. The dog that loves people and enjoys meeting new friends make the perfect therapy dog.

HOPE

 be a FRIEND

For more than 30 years, P.A.W.S. Anne Arundel County (formerly Pets on Wheels) has devoted its energy to visiting those residents of facilities who so desperately miss their own pets. Pet therapy has proven to be an effective form of both mental and physical medication.

At the P.A.W.S. (People and Animals Who Serve) Anne Arundel County Program our mission is to improve and enrich the quality of life for the disabled, infirmed, and elderly residents of our community through pet therapy visits from our trained and registered volunteer-teams who provide physical & emotional benefits, as well as unconditional love & hope.

"The greatest pain on Earth is not the pain of hunger or poverty, but rather the pain of isolation, abandonment and feeling unloved."

JOIN US

Wet noses are warming hearts all over Anne Arundel County.  Dedicated volunteers go with their pets to brighten the days of lonely residents in hospitals, long-term care sites, and other special homes in our community.

Everyone needs and enjoys  comfort and  companionship The gift of  hope is within your power to give when you visit as a member of P.A.W.S. The therapy that you provide has both physical and emotional benefits for all the people that you see.

A pet provides love and unqualified approval.  Many elderly and lonely people have discovered that pets satisfy vital emotional needs.  Help us to continue this practice of bringing unconditional love to those who so desperately need it.

Therapy dogs and their owners volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals, assisted living and nursing homes. These dogs and their owner work together as a team to  bring comfort and unconditional love to the lives of other people.
